Options for NC Kayaks

The options available for NC Kayaks are special finishes, paddle float rescue, bulkhead hatch, carbon / Kevlar, d-rings, and a rudder. Please visit our Accessories page for details on available kayak accessories.

Our two-tone fades make it easy for you to own a stunning and unique kayak. Simply choose any two colors of your liking for the deck. We list them from outside color to middle color. For example, this kayak has a Dark Blue to Magenta fade. See many more examples on our Color Examples page.

Similar to the fade, our webbed finish combines two different colors onto the deck of your kayak. Again, you can pick any two colors for the deck and the webbing. This kayak has a Black deck and Light Blue webbing. See many more examples on our Color Examples page.

Do you resemble a raccoon in your love of all things sparkly? Then this finish is for you. Metal flake is added to the gel coat for a truly dazzling kayak.

We currently offer metallic finish in British Racing Green, Dark Blue or Red with your choice of Gold or Silver flake. Click the picture for a closeup view.

While we do recommend white hulls for hiding wear-and-tear, we know many of you have fallen in love with colored hulls. You can order a hull in any of our offered colors.

We do feel the need to warn you that colored hulls do show scratches more. Also certain colors (esp. Gray & Yellow) change color with their thickness, and since we hand apply the color in the stern, there can be a demarcation line on these colors.

Do you want to keep your kayak looking as new as possible ten years down the road? We can help you with that.

We can apply a clear gel coat on any deck to help keep scratches from showing.

This option is unavailable for hulls. This option is included with the Metallic Finish option.

If you plan on using a paddle float for your self-rescues, we can install adjustable nylon straps behind the coaming to anchor the paddle with. The straps include a buckle for ease of use.

A hatch can be installed in the front bulkhead in order to accomodate long items such as a fishing rod. The bulkhead hatch works best with long arms.

If you need a lifting fixture or just a way to secure your kayak, a D-Ring can be added to the front or the back of a kayak. It is only available before construction of a kayak has been completed.

You have your choice of either a black or white Ritchie Kayaker Compass. It features a heading memory bezel and twists off for easy removal. The price here includes installation.

Our single kayaks truly do not need a rudder (see our FAQ page), but it is an available option.

We don't advocate carbon or Kevlar as they are not the best materials for kayaks (see our FAQ page for more). However, we do offer carbon and Kevlar. You can expect your carbon or Kevlar kayak to weigh about one pound less than the LT version of any given model.
